Mr. Philip L. Edmondson is a graduate of Architecture from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo but completed his college career in Europe, where he traveled extensively studying and documenting the architecture of many lands. After working for the architecture school in Denmark and an architect in England, Mr. Edmondson returned to the United States and worked on various commercial and residential projects for clients ranging from large corporations to individual homeowners. In that time he learned how to take complex client and city requirements and resolve them to that simple solution that meets the needs and is within budget.
From 1984 to 1988 Mr. Edmondson worked with a major turn-key military housing architect: designing and managing over 15 projects totaling more than 3,000 housing units across the nation. During that period he was responsible for design development starting with site planning concepts, building concept and designs, architectural aesthetic and building elevations treatment. As a project manager during the design phase he gained experience in time management, consultant coordination, deadlines and above all quality of product. Having been awarded the majority of his proposals, Mr. Edmondson prepared and was responsible for the working drawing phase of construction documents and managed the architect's responsibilites during construction.
Pacific Coast Architects was founded in 1989 by Mr. Edmondson and Mr. Jay Brian Evarts, Architect of Newport Beach, California. Together they built a firm around sincere commitment to environmentally sensitive, site specific, Architectural excellence according to precise client needs. Mr. Evarts took an amicable departure from the firm in 1995 to live and work in the beautiful state of Colorado. Mr. Edmondson has been Principle-in-Charge since, and continues in his commitment to high quality Architecture and emphasizes client satisfaction in the sensitive areas of construction costs and scheduling.
